Communication-Less Primary and Secondary Control in Inverter-Interfaced AC Microgrid: An Overview

Inverters in microgrids (MGs) face significant challenges during their parallel operations, such as accurate power sharing, deviations system voltage magnitude and frequency, imbalance between generation load demand. To solve these technoeconomic challenges, hierarchical control structures are implemented MGs. The structure consists of three layers primary, secondary, tertiary controls. approach can be either communication-based or communication-less at the various layers. use communication primary secondary faces problems, latency, data drop-up, expense issues. On other hand, improved decentralized techniques being avoid disadvantages using communication. This article presents an insight into limitations with by briefing about centralized distributed layer. Subsequently, algorithms to achieve sharing along restoration MG frequency described. A comparison among different droop-based methods layer is done based on review simulations. In addition, explained. Finally, future research directions areas listed, aiming improve reviewed techniques.
